Role Purpose

We have the below vacancy available in our Organisation:


The H Band Specialist: Radio Planning and Optimisation role is based within the Technology Business Unit (Tech).


The role purpose of the Specialist: Radio Planning and Optimisation is to analyse network performance, do site planning and optimisation.


Key Accountabilities and Decision ownership

  • Responsible for planning of 2G/3G/LTE sites (indoor, Greenfield, rooftops, mini?s, macros etc.)

  • Ensure optimal performance on network quality by monitoring the network statistics through the relevant tools

  • Pro-actively analyse and recommend capacity dimensioning requirements on RAN/UTRNA/ETRAN

  • Pro-actively analyse and verify in-depth network problems by performing traces at Node B, RND and ATM level

  • Investigate and rectify all network failures received from regular drive testing routes both internally and also by outsourcing company (e.g. P3)

  • Investigate and rectify all network quality faults received from network quality, network performance, CIC, management and the NMC

Key performance indicators:
  • Network Experience Dashboard Report ? all network performance elements

  • Conduct cluster optimisation of new site and first order neighbours (TLTS, Azimutus, heights)

  • Responsible for new site integration in terms of optimisation, performance checks and announcements

Core competencies, Knowledge and Experience

  • Computer applications (e.g. MS Office & MAPINFOR)

  • Analysis tool (e.g. Netstats, Actix)

  • GSM Knowledge UMTS (W-CDMA) knowledge

  • NSS Radio Commander

  • Network components

  • Statistical tools

  • Current Vendor UTRAN equipmente checks and announcements

Must have technical / professional qualifications:

Education:

  • 3 year degree or National Diploma in Electrical or Electronics in Engineering or equivalent

  • Telecommunications (GSM & UTRAN) courses essential

  • Minimum of 3 years relevant GSM experience (inclusive of 2 years UMTS & LTE experience) is essential

The base location for this role is Bloemfontein.
